IRTI and AMF Organize Training on Islamic Financial Technology

The Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group and the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) have jointly organized a virtual training program entitled ‘The Role of Financial Technology in the Development of Islamic Financial Products.’

The program was held from 15-17 February 2021, within the framework of a collaboration between IRTI and AMF to support common Member Countries of the IsDB and AMF.

The goal of the program was to build capacity for professionals engaged in financial development activities in Arab countries with different levels of knowledge and skills of financial technology in relation to the application of Islamic finance core principles and contracts.

Nine training sessions were conducted covering various subjects that include the fundamentals of Islamic financial products, fundamentals of financial technologies, technologies used in the fintech industry, smart contracts and cryptocurrencies, blockchain basics, and the application of fintech in Islamic financial industry.

The training provided an opportunity for IRTI professionals to share their experiences as well as present IRTI knowledge solutions and other initiatives related to fintech and Islamic finance.

A total 45 participants attended the training program from various Arab countries. Three IRTI trainers delivered the training sessions, namely Dr. Hilal Houssain, Team Leader, Knowledge Solutions; Dr. Mohammed Ayyash, Senior Training Specialist; and Dr. Anis Ben Khedher, Senior Knowledge Solutions Specialist.
