IRTI and Umm al-Qura University Discuss Collaboration to Promote Islamic Economics and Finance

A delegation of the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) headed by the Director General, Dr. Humayon Dar, paid a courtesy visit to Umm al-Qura University (UQU) in Makkah on Monday to discuss collaboration in various areas to promote Islamic Economics and Finance.

During the visit, the IRTI delegation met with President of UQU, Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, and the Dean of the College of Islamic Economics and Finance, Dr. Saleh Al-Alagla, where they discussed progress on preparations for the 12th International Conference on Islamic Economics and Finance ICIEF).

IRTI and UQU are partnering to organize the 12th ICIEF to be held in UQU in February 2019 under the theme “Towards the Real Economy: Challenges and Prospects.” IRTI expects to receive UQU delegation next week to finalize assessment of the papers submitted for the conference.

The two institutions also explored opportunities of collaboration in other areas to contribute to the development of Islamic Economics and Finance, including executive programs to be jointly organized between IRTI and UQU.

The IRTI delegation comprised of the Director General, Dr. Humayon Dar; Dr. Salman Syed Ali, Lead Economist; and Dr. Abd Elrhman Saaid, Senior Researcher and Coordinator of the 12th ICIEF.
