The Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) has participated in the IEEE Lebanon Section Student Competition (LSSC) 2019 held on 22 June 2019 at the Lebanese University in Beirut, Lebanon. The IEEE LSSC 2019 is the first competition among senior projects (graduation projects, capstone projects, or final year projects) from different universities in Lebanon on topics related to electrical and electronics engineering. The competition has six tracks: Computer (Software and Hardware), Communications and Networking, Engineering in Medicine and Biology, Antennas and propagation, Robotics and Control, Power Electronics, Circuits and Systems.
During the program, plenary speeches and presentations were delivered on projects on the latest innovations in technology and electrical engineering. Dr. Hilal Houssain, Senior Financial Product Development Specialist in IRTI, represented IRTI at the event where he presented a speech on “Blockchain Technology and its Applications”. The speech focused on the main components of blockchain technology, and the power of collaborative efforts and the multi-disciplinary teamwork structure that led to the development of Bitcoin, the first widely known application of blockchain technology. The speech also highlighted the practical use cases of blockchain technology, and how the technology could be applied to the projects presented in the IEEE LCSC’19 competition.
