We at the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) are saddened to hear of the death of Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Abbadi, Secretary-General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, who was also the winner of the Islamic Development Bank Prize in Islamic Economics for the year 1427H (2007).
Our sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the late Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Abbadi.
In a condolence statement on behalf of the Institute, the Acting Director General of IRTI, Dr. Sami Al-Suwailem, said, “We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.
“The Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, mourns the death of His Excellency Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Abbadi, Secretary-General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), one of the foremost scholars and jurists, and winner of the IsDB Prize in Islamic Economics for the year 1427AH/2007.
“On behalf of the staff of IRTI, we extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, to the staff of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, and to all practitioners of Islamic economics and finance, and employees of Islamic financial institutions.
“We ask the Almighty Allah to forgive him, have mercy on him, and receive him in the place of the righteous with the foremost believers and martyrs. Those are the best companions.”
