The Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) has expressed its condolences on the death of Sheikh Saleh Kamel, the winner of the Islamic Development Bank Prize in Islamic Banking and Finance for the year 1416H (1996). In a statement on behalf of the Institute, the Acting Director General of IRTI, Dr. Sami Al-Suwailem, said:
“We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. To Allah belongs what He takes, and to Him belongs what He gives, and for everything He sets a specified term.
“The Islamic Research and Training Institute, a Member of the Islamic Development Bank Group, mourns the death of His Excellency Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Kamel, a prominent pioneer in Islamic Economics, and winner of the Islamic Development Bank Prize in Islamic Banking and Finance for the year 1416 AH.
“On behalf of the employees of the Islamic Research and Training Institute, we extend our sincere condolences to the honorable family of Sheikh Saleh Kamel. May God reward his sons, daughters, wives, relatives and loved ones, and all practitioners of Islamic Economics and Finance, and financial and charitable institutions.
“We ask the Almighty to forgive him and receive him in the place of the righteous with the foremost believers and martyrs.”
The late Sheikh Saleh Kamel was one of the earliest winners of the prestigious IsDB Prize in Islamic Banking and Finance, organized by IRTI since its inception in 1988. He received the award in recognition of his pioneering efforts in the establishment of Islamic banks and research institutions, as well as his life-long services for the promotion of Islamic banking.
أعرب المعهد الإسلامي للبحوث والتدريب عن تعازيه في وفاة الشيخ صالح كامل، الفائز بجائزة البنك الإسلامي للتنمية في المصرفية والتمويل الإسلامي لعام 1416هـ/1996م. وأصدر المدير العام للمعهد بالإنابة، الدكتور سامي السويلم، بيان تعزية بالنيابة عن منسوبي المعهد، قال فيه:
“إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون، لله ما أخذ وله ما أعطى وكل شيء عنده بأجل مسمى.
ينعى المعهد الإسلامي للبحوث والتدريب، عضو مجموعة البنك الإسلامي للتنمية، سعادة الشيخ صالح عبد الله كامل، أحد رواد الاقتصاد الإسلامي وأعلامه البارزين، والفائز بجائزة البنك الإسلامي للتنمية للعام ١٤١٦ه.
باسم العاملين في المعهد الإسلامي للبحوث والتدريب نتقدم بخالص العزاء لآل الشيخ صالح كامل وأسرته الكريمة، وأعظم الله أجر أبنائه وبناته وأزواجه وذويه ومحبيه وجميع منسوبي الاقتصاد والتمويل الإسلامي والمؤسسات المالية والخيرية.
نسأله تعالى أن يعفو عنه وينزله منازل الصالحين مع الصديقين والشهداء وحسن أولئك رفيقاً”.
الشيخ صالح كامل هو من أوائل الفائزين بجائزة البنك الإسلامي للتنمية المرموقة في مجال المصرفية والتمويل الإسلامي، التي دأب المعهد على تنظيمها منذ إنشائه في عام 1988، وقد حصل على الجائزة تقديراً لجهوده الرائدة في إنشاء المصارف الإسلامية والمؤسسات البحثية، فضلا عن خدماته الممتدة طوال حياته من أجل تعزيز المصرفية الإسلامية.
