The Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) has participated in the 27th meeting of the Arabic Editing Committee of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), held from 28 January to 1 February 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The committee is responsible for reviewing the Arabic language versions of IFSB’s standards, technical notes and guidelines, which are expected to be adopted by Islamic financial institutions and other stakeholders and applied by the regulatory and supervisory authorities of IFSB member countries.
During the opening of the meeting IFSB Assistant Secretary General, Dr. Jamshaid Anwar Chattha, delivered an address in which he expressed appreciation to institutions supporting IFSB’s efforts in promoting stability of the Islamic financial industry.
Two new draft documents were discussed and reviewed by the committee, namely Technical Note on Financial Inclusion and Islamic Finance, and Core Principles for Effective Islamic Deposit Insurance Systems.
The committee comprises representatives with financial and Shari’ah specializations from various IFSB member institutions. Members in attendance at the meeting include representatives of IRTI, Islamic Development Bank’s Islamic Financial Services Department, Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA), Central Bank of Oman, Central Bank of Jordan, Central Bank of Sudan, and Al Salam Bank of Bahrain.
