IRTI signs MoU with Yemen for cooperation in capacity development

The Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group and the government of the Republic of Yemen have signed a memorandum of understanding to facilitate joint capacity development programs.

The memorandum was signed on 25 February 2020 by Dr. Sami Al-Suwailem, IRTI Acting Director General, and Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Ali Al-Hawari, Yemen’s Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation.

This was further to the approval of H.E. Dr. Nageeb Manssor Al-Oj, Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, who is also the IsDB Governor for Yemen, and H.E. Dr. Mansur Muhtar, Vice President of the IsDB, for cooperation between the IsDB Group and Yemen in academic and training fields.

Under the provisions of the MoU, IRTI and the Yemeni government will work together to organize specialized conferences, training courses, and research studies with government entities and private sector corporations in Yemen. The MoU provides a general framework for the cooperation that will also cover other areas that the parties consider relevant.
