The Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) has organized a training course on the application of financial technologies (Fintech) on awqaf (Islamic endowments).
The program, held in Jeddah from 24-26 December 2019, examined the awqaf eco-system in several jurisdictions, and addressed the practical challenges of integrating Fintech, particularly blockchain, smart contracts, crowdfunding, artificial intelligence and big data, in the awqaf industry.
During the three-day workshop, several ideas, insights and proposals emerged regarding the application of Fintech on awqaf.
Participants of the program included academics, awqaf professionals, Shari’ah specialists, and Islamic Economics and Finance specialists.
