The Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) welcomed a delegation from the Department of Economy and Tourism, Government of Dubai (DET), for a bilateral meeting on 29 January 2023 at the IsDB headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to take stock of progress in their existing technical collaboration and explore potential partnerships in other priority areas for the benefit of the IsDB Member Countries.
IsDBI and DET have a long-standing partnership in the areas of Islamic economics and finance. During the meeting, Dr. Sami Al-Suwailem, Acting Director General of IsDB Institute, reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to working with DET to address development issues faced by the Islamic finance industry, both in the United Arab Emirates and beyond.
DET was represented by Mr. Ali Ibrahim Mohammad, Deputy Director General and Mr. Sohail Zubairi, Senior Advisor – Islamic Finance. The IsDB Institute’s team, led by Dr. Sami Al-Suwailem, comprised of Mr. Yahya Aleem ur Rehman, Team Leader – Knowledge Leaders, and Senior Islamic Finance Specialists, Mr. Syed Faiq Najeeb and Dr. Abozer Majzoub.
As a main takeaway from the meeting, both institutions agreed to assign technical team members to develop an action plan to serve the interests of the global Islamic finance industry.
