Within its mandate to foster the development of Islamic finance, the Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) organized an intermediate-level virtual training program on “Shari’ah Standards for Islamic Financial Institutions” during the period of 4 – 8 September 2022.

This online vocational program was addressed to the Staff of the Development Bank-based Libya as a result of a strategic collaboration between the Institute and Libyan Financial Institutions to reciprocally identify and satisfy their training needs.

The goal of the training program was to build the capacity of professionals engaged in financial development activities and to equip them with a solid understanding of selected Shari’ah Standards of Islamic banking and finance.

Twenty-five trainees were selected to attend fifteen training sessions that were carried out by two professional trainers, Dr. Abdulbari Mashal and Dr. Layachi Feddad (well-versed experts in the Islamic finance).

The training program included the Shari’ah standards for Qard, Murabahah, Ijarah and Ijarah Muntahia Bittamleek, investment agency, trading in currencies, Hawalah, Salam and parallel Salem, Istisna’a and parallel Istisna’a, among others.

The training program was highly appreciated and evaluated by participants through IsDBI’s online evaluation link. In the end, certification of attendance was awarded to the participants by the Institute.
