The Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) in collaboration with the Palestinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction (PECDAR) organized a training workshop on managing awqaf investments in Palestine.
Held in Amman, Jordan from 21 to 25 November 2021, the workshop was attended by 18 officials from different Waqf institutions in Palestine, including Waqf managers, Waqf personnel, and other stakeholders of Waqf institutions.
The program aimed to equip the participants with a better understanding of Waqf jurisprudence, along with other important practical skills related to best practices in the governance and management of Awqaf properties, to help unleash the potential developmental role of Waqf and to contribute to achieving sustainable development for the people of Palestine.
The workshop also featured Awqaf project presentations proposed and designed by the participants, which will be later presented, together with the recommendations and the outcomes of the program, to the Palestinian Awqaf authority for further fine-tuning and possible financing and implementation.
Two seasoned experts in the area of Awaqf delivered the training sessions, namely Dr. Abdallahi Mohamed, Senior Financial Product Development Specialist at IsDBI, and Dr. Abdel Sattar Al Qudah, the advisor secretary general in the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and board member in Awqaf Masjid Al Aqs.
The participants and the representative of PECDAR expressed their gratitude to IsDBI and the entire IsDB Group for organizing the workshop, and said they looked forward to particpating in similar programs in the future.
