Within its mandate to foster the development of Islamic finance, the Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) organized a training program on “Introduction to Islamic Finance” during the period 12 – 16 September 2022 in Dakar, Senegal.
The program was addressed to participants from the Francophone West Africa region as a part of a technical assistance grant for capacity development in Islamic finance for the Interuniversity Postgraduate Program in Economics (PTCI-Economics).
The objective of the grant is to develop the capacity of the Interuniversity Program in Economics (PTCI) and the staff members from its participating universities to help them develop and offer Islamic finance modules within the PTCI program in Economics and to contribute to human capital development in Islamic Finance in the French-speaking West Africa region.
The trainees were selected to attend 18 training sessions delivered by two professional trainers who are well-versed experts in Islamic finance.
The program covered the principles of Islamic finance, Islamic Finance Ecosystem, Islamic Financial Products and Contracts, Islamic investments, services of Islamic banks, Waqf, among others.
The program was highly appreciated and evaluated by the participants. In the end, certification of attendance was awarded to the participants by the Institute.
